With possible cuts to Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa still looming, teens and seniors rally to brighten the lives of frail homebound seniors in West Contra Costa County.
For four years the San Pablo Senior Center teens from Recreation and Middle College have been creating
holiday cards for Meals on Wheels recipients. Teens and seniors engage in several afternoons of creative card making, social interaction, hot chocolate,
cookies and the joy of doing something nice for someone else. San Pablo Mayor Genoveve Calloway, Zee Deleon, Senior Center Services Aide, Social Svcs. and Bryant Rodriguez, Chair of the San Pablo Youth Commission, joined volunteer drivers who are delivering meals on wheels along with beautiful handmade cards to clients. Thank you to all our volunteers for bringing comfort and cheer into the homes of homebound seniors in Contra Costa County.
It's not too late to donate for holiday meals. Donations may be sent to Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa P.O. Box 3195, Martinez, CA 94553. Or click the DONATE Button to give online.
A special thanks to the San Joaquin Yacht Club for raising $22,100 through their Champagne Cruise, Golf and Bowling Tournaments along with Bill and Linda Atthowe's moonlight cruise in coordination with Trilogy in the Vineyards. Next year their goal is to reach a 30 year funding total of $500,000!
On December 18, Ana Von Krusze (left) and Cynthia Davis (right) from Leftovers Thrift Shop in Walnut Creek presented a $5,000 check to Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa's Community Engagement Specialist Marti Carlson at Rossmoor. That brings Leftover's donations this year to a whopping $10,000. Thank you Leftovers!
Thank you Whole Foods of San Ramon and Lafayette. Stores raised over $2500 during the past quarter for Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa!
Thank you loyal donors.
Happy Holidays from all of us at
Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa.
From a client who would not have a healthy daily meal if it weren't for you:
I can't tell you how much I appreciate getting a nutritious meal every day. I can no longer shop for myself and I don't have any family nearby. Occasionally a friend or neighbor stops by but not with the regularity of Meals on Wheels. And the delivery folks are always so pleasant and thoughtful. Thank you with all my heart. ~Sara
